Known to his friends as George Morgan, The Beach is a musical project unlike most. Recording in a studio in a cupboard-sized studio in a Clapham high rise block, he has been locked away from the outside world with his producer Max Hosinger, an ex-next door neighbour. With little outside musical influence The Beach has produced music that is endlessly fascinating and heralds a new distinctive voice in British music.
‘Debut single ‘Thieves’ was released earlier this year and immediately caught the ear of Zane Lowe, who after playing the track tweeted how it blew us away. He then went on to play the track several times on his show. Sunday Times Culture called it a lilting, impassioned, sit-up-and-listen folk-rock gem. Q Magazine subsequently made it their Track Of The Day.
