Schmieds Puls – You Can Go Now
Schmieds Puls – You Can Go Now (2015)
Directed by: Apollonia Bitzan & Mira Lu Kovacs
This is not what I was looking for, no idea what it was, but this ain’t it
Schmieds Puls’ debut album Play Dead was about big emotions. The second album I care a little less about everything now is, aptly named, about their loss: apathy, neglect, the emptiness that replaces them. With the addition of new instruments comes a reduction in composition that paves the way for the transformation in content. The essential remains, no ornaments, no pathos. Mira Lu Kovacs finds a clear and effective language, haunting and frank. It’s loud even in calm, precise even in explosive moments. Come, stir me up a little bit. You can download the current single Joy here (WAV).
Schmieds Puls is Mira Lu Kovacs (guitar, vocals), Christain Grobauer (drums), and Walter Singer (contrabass). When Mira Lu Kovacs began writing songs on a trip from the American east- to west coast in 2011, she started out as a solo act. In 2012, she met Christian and Walter and invited them to play with her at a festival show. That turned out so well (“it was love!”) that Schmieds Puls transformed into a band. The debut albumPlay Dead was released in autumn 2013 on Jazzwerkstatt Records. The second album I care a little less about everything now will be out October 16th on Seayou Records.
