Oisima – Sun of Truth
Oisima – Sun of Truth (2015)
Directed by: Tom Wilson
With delicate, dancing melodies and exotic imaginings Adelaide’s Anth Wendt aka Oisima has found a global audience with his emotionally connective and original productions. Signing to Create/Control ahead of his debut album Nicaragua Nights out mid-2015, he has unveiled his latest video for ‘Sun of Truth’. Featuring Perth vocalist Mei Saraswati, a mutual love of jazz and soul ties the single together, with spine-tingling sax solos and a hypnotic, textured melody captured by the video’s haunting imagery.
Taken from his forthcoming debut LP, ‘Sun of Truth’ is Oisima hitting his production stride. Backed by intricate rhythms rooted in hip-hop, he creates treasure hunt of subtle and moving melodies, saxophones solos and textured percussion, providing the perfect foil for Mei’s choral-meets-tropical lyrics. It’s an organic sound backed by a deft studio touch, not unlike Bonobo, who he’s toured with in the past.
The video was directed by emerging filmmaker Tom Wilson and shot through a city’s back streets and its surrounding bushland, capturing the cathartic and mystical undertones of the track. The clip follows the three female characters on a physical journey into the wilderness as a reference to humanity’s innate sense of self-discovery.
Oisima interprets and lifts his distinctive music from a headphone and immersive experience to a dance floor enticing performance. Pulling out bass lines and deftly maneuvering melodies on a MPC, his remarkable productions translate perfectly to a sunlit-stage or a basement club sound system. He has toured with the likes of Ras G, Bonobo, XXYYXX, TOKiMONSTA, Electric Wire Hustle and Knwledge.
