A secret romance, a last dance, a mysterious ending… a cinematic videoclip. Inspired by one of the most famous French Nouvelle Vague movie Last Year at Marienbad from Alain Resnais (1961). It was shot in Geneva in a luxury hotel called Le Beau Rivage and its resemblance with the palaces of Schleissheim and Nymphenburg where the filming of Last Year at Marienbad took place is amazing. Resnais’s movie is famous for its enigmatic narrative structure and it was quite easy to recreate it through ambiguous flashbacks and disorienting shifts of location inside Le Beau Rivage. The scenario explores the relation between a woman and a man who may have met the year before at Marienbad and may have contemplated or started an affair, with a third character as a second man who may be the woman’s husband. We wanted something more contemporary with a woman of a certain age meeting a young man and (unlike the original movie) controlling the whole situation as she is hiring him.
