Elderbrook – Be There Soon
Elderbrook – Be There Soon (2015)
Directed by: Lauren Gregory
Elderbrook, aka prodigious 21-year-old London songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, vocalist and producer Alexander Kotz, recently announced his new EP Travel Slow that will be released August 21st on Black Butter with lead single ‘Be There Soon’.
The track now receives it’s official visual accompaniment, in which Elderbrook teams up again with visual artist and video director Lauren Gregory who made the video for previous single ‘Could’. In line with that videos’ vivid hand-drawn style, the visuals for ‘Be Here Soon’ employ clay animation and naturalist 3D set pieces.
Travel Slow follows last years debut Could EP which introduced Elderbrook as one of the UK’s most promising and multi-talented young artists, with patiently mesmerizing electronic tempo underpinned by brooding and layered production, a thoughtful approach to vocals and a penchant for a killer hook. EP title track ‘Could’ went to #1 on the Hype Machine and has since clocked up well over a million plays across online. Recent track ‘Going’ ft. Kweku Collins, premiered as Annie Mac’s Free Music Monday, gave followers a further taste of new music to come.
Travel Slow delves further into Elderbrooke’s unique work and mind across three inventive tracks. First single ‘Be There Soon’ layers a playful croon, shadowy low register backing vocals and muted guitars over an impossibly head-nodding electronic shuffle. ‘Good Enough’ evokes The xx and Jamie Woon in its poignant spaciousness and soulful hymn-like falsetto. Title track ‘Travel Slow’ sees dramatic synth swells crashing against skittering polyrhythmic 808’s, creating an atmosphere both adrenaline rushing and masterfully paced.
