CHCKLK – Young Boy
CHCKLK – Young Boy (2015)
Directed by: Gabriel Lucido
Yesterday, breakout alt-RnB singer/songwriter CHCKLK premiered his new video “Young Boy,” via FADER. The single was released just a few short weeks ago via Sunset In The Rearview, receiving praise and coverage from 2 Dope Boyz, You Heard That New, StupidDOPE and more. CHCKLK and director Gabriel Lucido take the single’s dark and semi-autobiographic tone a step further, delivering a captivating and suspenseful visual, bringing the song’s title character to life, or so we think. CHCKLK’s masterful storytelling, his indelible vocals and cinematic vision for his videos, make him one indie music’s bright new stars to keep an eye on.
CHCKLK’s thoughts on “Young Boy”
“Young Boy” is like a portal into understanding my outlook on life, which is always double-sided. It’s the fork in the road that I always find myself revisiting. Do I want to continue to chase success, which could inevitably mean the erosion of my values and everything I stand for? Or do I skip on any chance of living comfortably, and fight for the beliefs of myself and others. It’s like the old proverb; there are two wolves inside us all. Which one wins? The one you feed.
