Aosoon – Under
Aosoon – Under (2015)
Directed by: Felix Brady
South London duo AOSOON announce the release of their new EP, Alot Of Something Out Of Nothing, and premiere the beautifully choreographed video for ‘Under’, the lead single off the EP that has amassed nearly 3million plays on YouTube since being uploaded to Majestic Casual.
Alot Of Something Out Of Nothing features two unreleased tracks, the brilliantly candid ‘Bread And Water’ and the punchy ‘Complicated’, with the sincere vulnerability that defines AOSOON, aka Marisa Hylton and Manny Folorunso, still as prevalent as ever.
Directed by Felix Brady and premiered on The Fader, the video for ‘Under’ sees two dancer’s visualise the energy shared by two people in love – sometimes at odds with each other, other times in perfect harmony, through highs and lows, but always connected.
AOSOON’s journey to this point has been paved with the support of radio DJ’s Zane Lowe, Target and Fearne Cotton, as well as the likes of The Line Of Best Fit, Clash, i-D, Hilly Dilly and Hunger TV. But it all began when Marisa and Manny met whilst playing in a church band. Temporarily going their separate ways to both study music, with Marisa going to LA and Manny studying in London, they kept in touch through music.
“We’d send each other songs online and when Marisa got back we started the band,” says Manny, ”All our songs start from our instrument’s, my bass being the ground to Marisa and her guitar’s melody, it’s a metaphor for how our relationship works, I guess.”
Marisa explains, “Alot Of Something Out Of Nothing puts across the message we’ve been trying to put across since we recorded our first EP. Having ‘Under’ on it and a couple songs from the Capo 3 EP, as well as the new songs, shows our progression and where we are right now.”
