Alpine – Shotfox
Alpine – Shotfox (2015)
Directed by: Tristan Jalleh
Alpine has unleashed their latest single, the dreamy pop anthem ‘Shot Fox’, taken from the band’s outstanding new album YUCK. Set in a surreal world within Lou and Phoebe’s subconscious, the new video sees Alpine reunited with director Tristan Jalleh, who was responsible for the band’s opulent ‘Foolish’ clip.
Receiving its world premiere on US fashion site NYLON, you can watch the video right here.
To celebrate the single and video’s release, the band has just announced a couple of special intimate launch shows, kicking off at the Corner Hotel in Melbourne on the 22nd October and then in Sydney at the Newtown Hotel on the 29th October, both with special guests Tiny Little Houses in tow.
‘Shot Fox’ will lure you in with its breathy verses and brutally honest, introspective lyrics: “I don’t know why I’m feeling so sad/I’ve got love and safety in each hand/I’m a first world problem waiting to explode” whisper the duel vocals of Phoebe Baker and Lou James. By the time the track reaches its climatic, you’re lost in a world of cathartic revelry, the world of YUCK.
Singer Lou James says of the track:
“The title Shot Fox refers to old Australian slang ‘grinning like a shot fox’. In hunting, even when a fox has been killed their facial expression remains happy and smug.
So in times of heartbreak, rather than being defeated and serving the sadness, the song is about being triumphant in your ability to move on without regretting any of it because you’ve come out of it the other end now grinning like a shot fox.”
Having received rave reviews including four stars from music bible Rolling Stone, YUCK is the lauded outfit’s follow up to their debut, A Is For Alpine, which peaked at #1 on iTunes and #11 on the ARIA Album Charts, and was awarded iTunes Alternative Australian Album of the Year and The Age EG Australian Album of the Year.
The band has just completed a national tour, selling out shows in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane and played what was one of the highlight sets of this year’s Splendour in The Grass Festival.
YUCK is out now through all music retailers.
